Sygna’s Women In Construction Golf Day

On the 17th July 2025, Sygna hosted it’s Women In Construction Golf day - an event that embodied inclusion, collaboration, and connections.

Over 30 women from all areas of the UK construction industry joined us at Westerham Golf Club, where they had the choice to play the full 18-hole course or take part in our introductory skills clinic, taught by PGA pros!

Our Managing Director, Remi Portes, explained in his speech on the day, that this event began as a simple idea over breakfast. It was sparked by the realisation that golf events were often attended only by men - a reflection of both the sport’s and the industry’s male-dominated culture.

As a leader in our industry, and a father of 2 young girls himself, Remi wants to see a world where women see opportunity in construction, not discouragement. Therefore, our goal for the golf day was to bring industry professionals together for some networking and friendly competition, while also wanting more women to leave us feeling confident and prepared to play on the golf course than when they first walked in the doors at 8 am.

“It was such a lovely reminder of why this industry is so great and it was great to see what a strong and growing female presence there is across the industry. I also thought it was lovely to see how supportive the male members of the Sygna team were of the event and promoting inclusivity.”

We wanted to create an environment where all of our guests could enjoy themselves, while also enjoying their game of golf! Those who were experienced golfers spent the day playing on the beautiful 18-hole course, powered with refreshments throughout the day. For our guests new to the game, we held a pro-led clinic, where they covered key skills like putting, driving and chipping, followed by a 9-hole course in teams!

“Such a fun day, great format, and even better company. Was a great way to create an event that anyone could attend by offering the different options, depending on ability.”

Overall, the day was a success, indicated by lots of smiles and loud cheering throughout! Not only was this an event about golf and team-building, but also an opportunity to reflect on the talented women in the construction industry, and the fact that their presence is now the norm, not the exception - both on the golf course and the construction site!
