Appointment: Commissioning Agent (CxA)

Sygna was appointed as Commissioning Agent for the Substation supporting the client’s new data centre campus in Berlin. The substation includes two 70 MVA 115/20 kV transformers with a Maximum Import Capacity (MIC) of 63 MVA, fed by a 110 kV grid connection.

Our scope covered commissioning management from design review through to final energisation, in accordance with the client’s standards and local grid compliance requirements.

  • Proactive Risk Identification - Raised technical risks during document reviews and witnessed tests, leading to early resolution of issues with communication interfaces and scheme settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Commissioning Management Across All Phases- Oversaw the full lifecycle from design review, pre-functional inspections, FAT attendance, L1–L4 testing, to final energisation.

  • Interface Management Across Stakeholders - Acted as a technical liaison between OEMs, construction contractors, grid operator (e.dis), and client representatives to align commissioning timelines and scopes.

  • Review and Development of Test Documentation - Reviewed and commented on test procedures, logic diagrams, and SCADA/telemetry interfaces; provided redline updates and witnessed sign-offs.
